My
name is Marvin, It's a long story about my condition but I'll try
to be short yet give you as much in detail as i can.
I'm
a Service connected disabled veteran, 36 years old and I've been
diagnosed with interverbral disc syndrome for almost 10 years from
and injury that happened while in the Army.
For
the last five or so years my condition has manifested to where my
legs have gotten weak and the complications with my back are significantly
worse I'm always sore in my lower back my legs ache and just this
year (Feb.) I had a Neuro Exam and the doctor diagnosed me with having
paralysis of the sciatic nerve (both legs) with decreased pin sensation.
Well
I kept complaining that there is more to it that what the doctors
are telling me. So I had an MRI exam in Sept. and that's when I got
a copy of the results and they found the arachnoid cyst in my spinal
canal. But before the arachnoid cyst was found my legs gave out back
in june causing me to fall down my steps here at home causing me
to rupture my Achilles tendon in which I had repaired in July, as
a matter of fact I was released from the Hospital on the fourth of
July.
Like
I said my legs are unstable, and most days It takes a lot out of
me to drive for a period over an hour. My wife says all
I do anymore is sleep and lay around, but trust me she doesn't
know what it feels like to be in constant pain everyday and most
days
it hurts to even walk or move around. It bother me to even get
out of bed and and make a pot of coffee or drive to the store for
some groceries.
I've
gotten to the place where I've stopped working and have applied for
disability benefits.
I'm not
going to put myself and health in further jeaporady by going out
doing something I know I can't.
For
years I have put aside how I feel and pretended
that
I can work with this problem but when I come home I'm irritable
and short
tempered and just frustrated because I flat out hurt and ache.
there have been times when I would lay in the bed and cry because
my
legs are aching something terrible....it's hard to explain what
it feels
like when your legs ache and throb.
I'm
on long acting morphine and oxycodone. And I can't miss taken this
medicine because if I
do I can't sleep
or rest comfortably. I haven't met with my doctor yet to find
out how bit it is or just how embedded it is in my spinal canal.
The
Veterans
Administration is slow about getting patients in for treatment
but soon I'll know the full extent to what is going on with
me.
Feel
free to post this on your site. It's a coincidence that I printed
a story about Kathi off your website last week and I've already heard
form her. I just joined this yahoo group yesterday and It was just
meant form me to join this group because I
have already browsed your website and will be going back to it...so
if you want go ahead and post this and maybe I can learn more about
this disorder from you
Kathi and anyone else that can help.
Thanks again...
