It all began one day in summer school when I was about 8 years old. I had told my mom that I had a headache and stomach ache, but she did not believe me being that it was the first day of summer school, as pretty much as any mom would. So I went to school and about a few hours later I called home and said that I was still sick. She came to pick me up. The flu like symptoms went on for a few days and my mom called the pediatrician and we went and the doctor, who was old and out of touch with medicine. He gave me some medicine and we went home. This continued for a few weeks and my parents got alarmed and they talked to a neighbor who was a doctor, and he said to send me to Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. We went and they did a cat scan on my head, and they found a arachnoid cyst the size of a golf ball on my pituitary gland. They operated immediately, putting in a vp shunt to relieve the pressure, however they could not get to the cyst. After a few more surgeries, and about six months later I left the hospital. However I was not completely the same. They then diagnosed me with Hypopituitarism, which meant I would have to take growth hormone, testosterone, and a few other drugs. Due to the fact that I have a shunt I would also have to have quite a few revisions over the years.
